Respond has interpreters for more than 170 languages who fill a gap in the fast-growing US asylum system. As the number of migrants to the US reaches record levels, more people are coming from farther away. And private translation companies can’t always accommodate uncommon tongues such as Sudan’s Zaghawa, Ecuador’s Shuar, Myanmar’s Zomi and dozens of others—sometimes dialects spoken by only a few thousand people.
