In new research , we hypothesized and found that posts viewed as more authentic to an influencer, for example posts that reveal details about an influencer’s personal life or emotions, are the most popular, while posts that are viewed as less authentic, like a sponsored ad or a promotional post about work, result in lower engagement (as seen in the small sampling from Beckham’s posts in July).
