The American Economic Association Snubs Hayek

Earlier this year, economist Tawni Hunt Ferrarini and I proposed a session for the January meeting honoring the free-market Austrian Friedrich Hayek on the 50th anniversary of his winning the Nobel Prize. The suggested panel included Barbara Kolm, a former vice president of the Austrian Central Bank (who was willing to fly at her own expense to San Francisco), and Alan Ebenstein, a lecturer in economic history at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who has written two books on Hayek.
