Cotas is one of countless global gamers who’ve fallen in love with the world of Japanese horse racing through Umamusume, a mobile game produced by developer Cygames Inc. in Tokyo. Since its 2021 introduction, the Japanese version has topped 30 million downloads across Asia and generated movies, live concerts and even a collaboration with KFC. After its English-language release in June, livestreams of the game on Twitch amassed hundreds of thousands of views, catapulting Umamusume onto the screens of a broad international audience. In December it was named best mobile game of the year at the 2025 Game Awards.
