Among the conclusions: Gen Alphas—the cohort born from 2010 to 2024—are addicted to their phones, lack self-discipline and social skills, cannot read, cannot spell. “Teachers are confused and frightened at the behavior of Gen Alpha,” one US-based teacher declared on TikTok in a post that’s been viewed more than 7 million times. “Gen Alpha is defiant, aggressive, disrespectful and rude.” Another teacher reported, “I teach seventh grade. These kids are still performing at a fourth-grade level.” There are already concerns about what kind of workers the Alphas will be—at least if they view the authority of their future bosses as skeptically as they reportedly see that of their educators. One young teacher on TikTok concluded simply, “We are doomed.”
