“There’s an increased value on places where you feel warm and connected,” says Rockwell, who’s currently crafting restaurants, bars, hotels and even a collection of Chicago magic theaters that are dramatically diminutive. It’s all part of a bigger trend in hospitality and entertainment toward littler places where, Rockwell says, “you feel like the room is scaled to you.”
