The place that means a lot to me is Woodstock in upstate New York, where I live part-time. I first came here when I was 19. There was a band that was big in the ’70s called The Band, and the drummer was a Woodstock resident. He played in Bob Dylan’s backup band – Bob has lived here on and off for many years – and used to hold concerts in his barn. Some friends dragged me to see one – it was wonderful. When I was in my late 20s, my brothers and I got a little cabin up here, and it’s where my boyfriend and I spent our first weekend together. He is from Los Angeles and had never been upstate. Like me, he totally fell in love with the area; it’s where we bought our first place together and, now, where we are working on our second renovation project, which is nearly complete.
