Things have changed since — three quarters of my county voted for Trump and when I’ve been home in recent years, I’ve seen numerous Maga signs. But the events of the last few months, weeks and days make me wonder if this is changing. Could the Midwest — where farm consolidation, factory closures, an opioid crisis and deaths of despair helped fuel the rise of Donald Trump — lead the Republican turn away from Maga?
