While Roseberry is harnessing the attention economy with viral catwalk and celebrity moments, so Elsa Schiaparelli, who founded her label in Paris in 1927, wielded influence through her collaborations with artists including Salvador Dalí, Leonor Fini, Alberto Giacometti, Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso and René Magritte. Fashion Becomes Art is the first major retrospective dedicated to the couturier at the V&A, and will seek to position Schiaparelli as an artist as much as a fashion designer.
