What a shame for the old, bog-standard freestanding fridge. I don’t want a sleeker look. I want a kitchen that feels loved and lived in, with life and personality. The fridge door is a place for storytelling about the people who live there; a place to chronicle memories and corral the disparate details of life. It seeks to hold fast something ephemeral, intangible: the passage of time. When I look at my fridge door now I get a sense, all at once, of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
