“The boarding school model is very challenged at the moment,” said Richard Wills, a trustee of Rendcomb and the founder’s great-grandson. As its problems worsened, Rendcomb asked another school about a potential merger; that school replied that it had 43 such inquiries. “There is going to be a big consolidation,” says Wills.
