In an industry known for high turnover and poor treatment of primarily migrant laborers, we are happy to stand apart as a B Corp–certified enterprise with high scores for positive impact on our workers and an exceedingly low attrition rate of about 1% a month, compared with the industry’s annual rate of more than 200%. Our business practices have helped us achieve double-digit growth over the past five years (accelerating in the past two) to well over $500 million in sales. As we expand into new products—peppers and cucumbers—and joint ventures, we expect success to come through the same strategy: putting people first.
