Hamilton:I’ve always been a little rebellious. Friends say I don’t like to be told what to do. One calls me a contrarian. That’s partly why I’m curious to explore new things and not be satisfied with a foundation that’s been set before me. The other part of it is solving a problem. We couldn’t catch big waves, so we started towing. Then, to overcome surface tension, we went to foiling. Stand-up paddling came from wanting to stay upright instead of lying down on the board.
