Today, even pick-your-own farms andself-checkout kioskshave their “hands” out for a little extra. If the trend continues unchecked, professionals in better-paid service sectors, such as attorneys, consultants, and hedge fund managers might soon argue that gratuities belong in their line of work too. This isn’t far-fetched: by fulfilling his campaign promise of “no taxes on tips,” U.S. President Donald Trump gave business owners an additional reason to shift compensation from wages to tips.
