Doug Ressler, manager of business intelligence at Yardi Matrix, a sister division to PropertyShark, attributed the Bronx’s longer tenure mainly to a demographic of older residents who bought homes in the 1980s and settled there, raising families. Now empty nesters, they have equity in their paid-off homes and little reason to leave.
