In part because of the success of Cole Escola’s “Oh, Mary” on Broadway, it seems that a certain kind of antic camp sensibility has risen to define our cultural moment. I was reminded of that while watching “Wicker,” Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson’s wacky gender-equality parable in which a winsome Olivia Colman plays an unlovable medieval fisherwoman who asks the village basket weaver (Peter Dinklage) to make her a strapping husband (Alexander Skarsgard) out of wicker. Like all of the zaniest concepts, it works only because the whole cast commits.
